EDDAH: The Makkah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has begun implementing its Hajj operational plan.
The project requires cooperation between various government bodies to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to pilgrims in line with standards of efficiency, safety and sustainability.
Waleed Al-Dughays, director general of the branch, said preparations included assessing past challenges, updating operational frameworks and developing a comprehensive risk register.

The implementation period runs until June 6 and covers Makkah, the holy sites and support locations in Jeddah governorate, including operations centers, slaughterhouses, public markets and temporary shelters.
Al-Dughays said the plan was designed to ensure “seamless coordination” among relevant authorities, enabling rapid responses during peak periods.
Field monitoring was a priority to improve response times and strengthen readiness to manage different operational scenarios, he said.
