MAKKAH: The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases in Makkah held a coordination meeting and simulation to implement a hypothetical plan for reducing animal health risks ahead of the Hajj season.

Hosted at the headquarters of the Saudi Arabia Project for the Utilization of Hady and Adahi, the meeting aimed to strengthen interagency coordination to mitigate potential animal and zoonotic diseases.

Participants discussed specific roles and responsibilities to ensure a rapid field response and efficient execution of the center’s approved emergency plans, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

The simulation involved a broad range of government bodies, including the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Health,Makkah Municipality, the Public Health Authority, and the Makkah Health Cluster.

These proactive measures are designed to verify risk management strategies and emergency readiness at the holy sites, the SPA said.

By achieving the highest standards of prevention, the center aims to protect public health and ensure a safe, disease-free environment for pilgrims throughout the upcoming Hajj season.
