UN should revisit Lebanon peacekeeping mission decision, China envoy says

BEIRUT: China’s ambassador ​to the United Nations Fu Cong told ‌reporters ‌on ​Friday ‌that ⁠there ​was a ⁠need to revisit a decision ⁠that ‌will ‌see ​the UN ‌Interim ‌Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)’s mandate ‌end at the end ⁠of ⁠the year.
UNIFIL has served as a peacekeeping force between Israel and Lebanon since 1978 but finds itself caught in the crossfire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
