TOKYO: Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Friday welcomed the 10-day ceasefire agreed on April 17 between Israel and Lebanon.
In a statement, Motegi said Japan would “closely monitor” the impact of the pact on the situation in the region — including on the negotiations between the US and Iran — and “strongly expects that all parties fully implement this agreement toward realizing peace and stability in the region.”
He added that Japan has called on all parties to halt hostilities, abide by international law, and seek a diplomatic settlement.
