RIYADH: A strong cultural presence at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy highlighted Saudi Arabia’s place in the global publishing industry.

The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission’s participation in the five-day event underlined the Kingdom’s approach to children’s and young adult literature, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Commission CEO Abdullatif Al-Wasel said the Kingdom’s involvement aligned with efforts to strengthen its presence on one of the world’s leading specialized platforms.

The fair brought together professionals from the field of children’s and young adult literature in a dynamic environment. Al-Wasel said the accompanying cultural program provided a platform that highlighted diverse creative experiences through sessions on translation, narrative and philosophy.

He added that the Saudi presence reflected rapid progress in children’s and young adult book production, highlighting growing diversity in themes and styles. The Kingdom’s participation opened new avenues for cooperation in publishing and translation, enhanced intellectual property exchange, supported the global reach of Saudi content, and strengthened its broader impact.

The Kingdom’s pavilion hosted a diverse program featuring writers and specialists, including panel discussions highlighting the vitality of the Saudi creative scene. Strong attendance underlined a growing interest in Saudi content for children and young adults and its expanding presence in global markets.

It also reflected stronger cooperation with publishers and rights agents, support for professional activity in publishing and translation, and promotion of Saudi children’s literature.

The pavilion also included institutions such as the King Fahd National Library, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, reflecting integrated national efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s international cultural presence.
