JEDDAH: Fans of WWE who missed the last year’s event get a chance to see some of their favorite wrestling stars in the flesh and in action when these ring gladiators make a return engagement in the Kingdom next month.
The American wrestling promotion in cooperation with the Dubai-based FLASH Entertainment is to present WWE Jeddah 2015 Oct. 8 to 10 marking the second straight year a live wrestling show is being held in Saudi Arabia following the WWE Riyadh 2014.
The three-day WWE Jeddah 2015 will take place at the cavernous King Abdullah Sports City’s Green Hall with attendance expected to hit 10,000 on each day.
Neville, a 29-year old British professional wrestler based in Orlando, Florida in the United States, spoke to Arab News ahead of the event on Monday. He is part of the crew travelling to Jeddah along with such WWE stars as John Cena, Seth Rollins, Big Show, Chris Jericho, The Mix and others.
Known for his high flying style which has earned him the nickname “The Man That Gravity Forgot”, Neville is all agog about his forthcoming visit for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
“I’m very very excited to come and more than ready to rumble,” said Neville, born Benjamin Satterley ,in the interview from the US.
Neville said he has been wrestling five nights a week and hitting the gym to condition his body in preparation for the Saudi event. “Come October the whole crew will be ready,” he said.
“It’s not very often we come to Saudi Arabia and this will be a huge opportunity to bring out the excitement and meet WWE fans,” said the 5-foot-8 194-lb. Neville.
According to Wikipedia, Neville began his wrestling career in Northeast England with a small promotion, the Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF), and after establishing himself in the United Kingdom with promotions such as Real Quality Wrestling and One Pro Wrestling, he began to perform overseas, most notably for the Italy-based Nu Wrestling Evolution, the United States-based Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Ring of Honor, and Chikara, and the Japan-based Dragon Gate, where he has won the Open the Brave, Triangle and Twin Gate Championship in the latter promotion. He is a former PWG World Tag Team Champion, and winner of PWG's inaugural Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament (with Roderick Strong).
Before signing up with WWE, where he performs under the ring name Neville, Satterley wrestled in WWE's developmental territory NXT under the name Adrian Neville, and prior to that, competed on the independent scene under the ring name Pac. In NXT, he is a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, with his first reign being one-half of the inaugural champions (with Oliver Grey), the other with Corey Graves and he is also a one-time NXT Champion, with his 287-day reign currently the longest in the championship's history. He is also the first (and only) to have held both the NXT Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship.
In a parting message to WWE fans, Neville said he is excited to “show my unique wrestling style and everything about me. It’s absolutely unlike anything you will see. I hope fans enjoy the evening as much as we do.”
