EP governor stresses media’s vital role in forming opinions

DAMMAM: Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif received at his office dignitaries, businessmen, officials and a number of citizens who greeted him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The governor stressed during the meeting the important role being played by media in helping form correct opinion.
He urged the media establishments to adhere to the ethics of their noble profession, verify facts before dissemination and ensure accuracy in reporting.
“Media should stay away from excessive criticism and instead they should depend on proven facts before airing them to the public,” he said.
The governor said honesty is the key to success, especially in the media profession.
Khalid Al-Janahi, director of the Eastern Province-based office of Al-Ekhbariya news channel, praised Prince Saud for his sustained support for the cause of media in the region.
According to experts, Al-Ekhbariya channel has contributed immensely in broadcasting relevant content.
The meeting was attended by Prince Fahad bin Mohammed bin Jalawi; Al-Ahsa Gov. Prince Badr bin Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Jalawi; Prince Fahd bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Eastern Province general supervisor of the administrative development; EP Mayor Fahd Al-Jubair; Khaled Al-Sultan, rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals; Abdul Aziz Al-Saati, president of the King Faisal University; and Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Battal, the province’s secretary-general.
Among those present were Saeed bin Hussein Al-Yami, director of Dammam TV Complex.
