JEDDAH: Six young Saudi women have come up with a new application for smartphones. It is called SnapJobs for employment. The application is a communication tool between young men and women with degrees and skills who are looking for appropriate jobs in both private and public sector companies.
“The idea of the application came about from our noticing that Snapchat is used by all sectors of society and from this we decided to make an application to help those looking for work. It took us six months to complete it,” said Ala Al-Qawaei, a graduate.
“Many young men and women have the energy and experience but are not in appropriate jobs. Because of this, we are presenting the application to solve the unemployment problem and help people find jobs,” she said.
The application offers job opportunities on a daily basis and enables employers to look at CVs in all fields and specialties and then to directly contact possible employees. The application also features alerts on resumes and work available in different companies. It is easy to use and is completely private.
“The easy-to-use application aims to save time for those looking for jobs and gives the seeker the ability to make or look at a 30-second-videoclip or voice recordings,” Maha Al-Mansour, the app’s joint founder, was quoted as saying in a local newspaper.
