The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) recently hosted an awareness workshop on cybercrime, which aimed to develop mechanisms to protect user information and data from theft or manipulation.
The one-day seminar was organized by the RCCI IT Committee in cooperation with the RCCI Communication Committee at it headquarters on Wednesday.
The lecture focused on the development of different methods and possible precautions to prevent and protect user information from criminal gangs.
Abdul Karim Al-Shahrani, a legal adviser at the RCCI, presented facts and figures about cybercrime. He explained the ways in which cybercrime is committed, including identity theft, defamation and extortion, online fraud and hacking websites.
Suleiman Samhan, an advisor on Information Security at the RCCI, and a group of specialists in IT educated attendees and investors about the ways to protect their businesses.
Computer-related crime is a growing trend as computers become an increasingly integral part of daily life. In addition, cybercrime is a major component for digital surveillance and has impacted civil liberties in recent years.
