Need for dynamic leadership

Need for dynamic leadership

This refers to the report published in Arab News, “Musharraf announces March return to contest Pak election.” (March 2).
I think, whether Musharraf returns, contests election or gets appointed as president of Pakistan, it would hardly matter for the country or its people. In his governance, Pakistan was no better; rather it was heading toward disasters. It was Musharraf, who invited all the trouble by allowing US Army to land on the Pakistan soil that eventually, as we know it all too well, led us to excruciating experience of unabated drone attacks, and thus attacking on our collective sense of sensibilities and compromising with sovereignty.
When a country allows another country's army to land on its soil then it means that country has lost its sovereignty and control over its country.
America has been in the habit of meddling in the internal affairs of Pakistan, and not allowing space to Pakistan to concentrate on stabilizing the nation. Musharraf, who came to power through the 1999 coup, has today nothing to bank upon as far as any constructive works are concerned. Pakistan’s graph of progress has constantly shown a downward trend. Many believe that anarchy and violence in Pakistan are due to militancy, which might be true; but drone attacks have killed more people than the suicide attacks. We just cannot blame only rebel factions for all the problems facing Pakistan. Covert attacks by outside forces including Jews and India through their agencies like Blackwater, drone attacks, fueling of sectarian clashes and suicide attacks taking benefit of rebel factions, are also the factors that need attention and a close scrutiny.
But these things can be handled once America stops meddling in Pakistan and drone attacks are stopped once and for all.
However, the people of Pakistan must understand that by remaining quiet on sectarian clashes that are taking place on regular basis will not serve the purpose, and it will take Pakistan further down the ladder. So, Pakistan must strive for unity if it wants to make progress. There are reports of covert attacks from Mossad, and hence Pakistan government must be vigilant to avoid such attacks on its soil.
The present government is incompetent and it must be replaced by a dynamic leadership that could lead the country from the front. Leaders like Musharraf should not be allowed to assume power. - Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
