The tenth GCC Nursing Symposium was launched in Jeddah yesterday under the theme “nursing experiments of emergency and disaster strategy.” Jeddah Gov. Prince Meshaal bin Majid sponsored the opening at Jeddah InterContinental Hotel in the morning.
The three-day event is organized by the Ministry of Health and is considered “very important in terms of content and (in terms of) exchanging expertize in dealing with emergencies and disasters,” said Deputy Minister of Health for Planning and Development Muhammad bin Hamza Khushaim in a speech.
Munira bint Hamdan Al-Osaimi, ministry assistant undersecretary for backup medical services, said the symposium is significant in terms of communication and deepening cooperation between officials and workers of the health sector in GCC countries. "The expertize exchange between them would serve the profession of nursing and health care services in these countries," she added.
Deputy Minister Khushaim said the Saudi Ministry of Health has started putting in place development plans and health quality control programs that aim to improve the competence of doctors, technicians and nurses more than two years ago.
"Training programs are organized from time to time all over the Kingdom," he added. He later launched the first GCC website that contains a specialized labor database.
