ONE of Riyadh’s newest restaurants, which will bring the taste of traditional Indian cuisine and sweets, is set to open soon with a promise of an authentic, affordable dining experience. “The Red Chilli, as this restaurant is named, will open its doors for customers at the end of this month, before Ramadan,” said Shehroz Khan, chairman of the Red Chilli Group of Restaurants, here yesterday.
The 300-seat Red Chilli restaurant, which is located beside the Red Palace Hotel in Hai Al-Wazarat District of the capital city, will be the first Indian restaurant of its kind in Riyadh in terms of offering traditional Indian cuisine and a range of Indian sweets, said Shehroz. The new restaurant will cover an area of 750 square meters and has substantial parking place.
“So many people were asking for it, hence I took the initiative to open this restaurant,” said Shehroz. He pointed out that there are hundreds of thousands of people from the subcontinent living in Riyadh besides native Saudi population, who are being targeted by the restaurant.
He said that restaurant would specialize in various food and sweet items for which it has hired highly-paid chefs from India and abroad.
Shehroz said that Red Chilli would serve affordable Indian food. “We put a lot of money for the inside construction and to offer the best ambience,” Shehroz said.
“We remodeled everything and bought everything new from different parts of the world,” he added.
He pointed out that Red Chilli will have a large menu with all-day specials and choice of many dishes. “Our dishes, however, will cater to the tastes of Saudis, Asians, Arabs and Europeans alike,” said Shehroz, adding that the restaurant will have a major quality review program. Under this quality program, the restaurant will monitor the preparation of various dishes to ensure better health and hygiene on a daily basis.
Referring to the whole range of dishes served under one roof, he said that there would be many popular dishes of Red Chilli restaurant, which are liked by people of all nationalities. A bite of boneless chicken boti, delicious mutton dish, fresh fish baked and blended with vegetables will be some of the specialties besides a range of vegetables. “Red Chilli also seeks to emerge as the final destination for vegetarians,” said the chairman. This is in addition to different types of barbecues prepared in sizzling grills. On plans to expand outside catering operation, he pointed out that “We will shortly equip our team for outside catering. Last but not the least, Red Chilli will also be known for its fresh-from-the-sea fishes of different varieties.”
Red Chilli, he said, will be in fact the only location in Riyadh, where one will be able to enjoy the aromatic flavor of spices and a range of authentic subcontinental dishes. In fact, the restaurant has already started a tasting program, under which its dishes are being rated by diverse groups of diners.
