Riyadh sparkles with exhibition of the world’s finest gems
  • Jewels of the World exhibition brought with it fine jewelry and displays of high-end craftsmanship
  • Italian jewelers, including Aliel Italia, Scavia and FerriFirenze, highlighted the best of European craftsmanship

RIYADH: The chandelier-lit halls of Riyadh’s Four Seasons Hotel sparkled this week with an exhibition of some of the world’s finest gemstones.

The “Jewels of the World” exhibition brought with it fine jewelry and displays of high-end craftsmanship.

More than 100 of the world’s most celebrated jewelers gathered in the Saudi capital for the five-day exhibition.

Running until June 19, the exhibition showcases displays from exhibitors including De Beers, Yoko London, Scavia, FerriFirenze, Pasquale Bruni, Vhernier, Charles Oudin and HRH Joaillerie, alongside regional names such as Al Hashimi Pearls, Sulaiman Al Madyan for Gold & Jewellery and Areej Ibrahim Abdulla Aldubaikhi.

“The designs here catch your eye immediately,” said Hajer Al-Mufadli, a shopper who has attended previous editions of the exhibition.

“There is a beautiful fusion of Eastern authenticity and the grandeur of Indian styles, alongside other aesthetics that suit all tastes and every elegant occasion.

“You can see the clean, precise craftsmanship behind every piece — whether it’s the rings, the delicate earrings, or the dazzling necklaces.

“And the venue itself is wonderfully organized, designed in a way that highlights every corner.”

Maryam Al-Ruwayq, a jewelry enthusiast who follows the industry closely, spoke to Arab News at the event.

“I pay close attention to jewelry news and new designs,” she said. “I love jewelry with calm colors, elegant and simple details that add a distinctive touch.

“I enjoy comparing designs and materials, and bracelets and rings are my favorite. The modern pieces I’ve seen in past editions and collections are beautiful, simple and suitable for different occasions and tastes.”

Among the standout pieces is De Beers’ Phenomena Sirocco High Jewelry necklace, a diamond masterpiece inspired by the warmth of the Mediterranean, featuring contemporary curls of round brilliant diamonds accented with pear-cut diamond drops.

George Hakim is presenting its Four Elements High Jewelry collection, showcasing emeralds, sapphires, rubies and diamonds, including earrings centered on sapphires of more than 4 carats, alongside a matching bracelet featuring seven Ceylon sapphires totaling 15.27 carats.

Italian jewelers, including Aliel Italia, Scavia and FerriFirenze, highlighted the best of European craftsmanship. Aliel Italia presented its transformable Bridal Suite choker with a Zambian emerald cabochon, while Scavia showed its Nurgul II earrings centered on vivid natural Colombian emeralds.

FerriFirenze unveiled its Spring Summer collections: Light, Trilly, Chiacchierino and Giulio.

Pasquale Bruni’s Mandala collection is also on display, reimagined with vibrant green hues and the maison’s signature colorful pave technique, alongside Vhernier’s iconic Abbraccio collection, whose fluid forms wrap gracefully around themselves.

HRH Joaillerie, meanwhile, bridged European refinement with Arab aesthetics in its Luce collection, inspired by the intricate architecture of Beirut’s Al Ameen Mosque built by Rafik Hariri, distinguished by warm tones and precious gemstones.

Yoko London highlighted its High Jewelry collection, including the Cleopatra 18K gold freshwater pearl diamond and mother-of-pearl Celine Cascade necklace, while Charles Oudin, the historic Parisian watchmaker, showcased Art Deco-inspired timepieces alongside fully diamond-set high jewelry creations, all of which can be personalized.
