RIYADH: Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the head of the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, stressed the humanitarian importance of empowering communities in a speech in London on Wednesday.
Al-Rabeeah, who is the agency’s supervisor general, said that Saudi Arabia firmly believed that the best developmental, economic and technological outcomes were achieved by enabling communities to actively participate in their challenges.
His comments were made during his participation in a closed humanitarian session at the Global Partnerships Conference in London.
Al-Rabeeah also spoke about how the UN launched the UN80 Initiative in March 2025, which called for redesigning humanitarian coordination mechanisms to prioritize the most urgent needs, while strengthening transparency and accountability in aid delivery.
He said that KSrelief was committed to enhancing the success of its humanitarian missions by building a comprehensive cooperative framework with all partners.
He further noted that cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the UK had resulted in the implementation of humanitarian projects valued at $35 million.
KSrelief has worked with more than 340 partners over the past 10 years in a bid to reach the largest possible number of people in need.
The agency has delivered humanitarian aid totaling more than $8.3 billion since 2015 through more than 4,200 projects across 113 countries.
Recent initiatives include an emergency cholera response project in Yemen that provided medical services to 7,155 people between April 15-21.
The initiative used special medical teams to monitor travelers at air and land ports, while healthcare facilities were supplied with intravenous and oral rehydration solutions, antibiotics, sterilization materials and protective equipment.
KSrelief has also begun two rehabilitation projects for fish and vegetable markets in the Al-Ghaydah district of Yemen’s Al-Mahrah Governorate as part of a sustainable agriculture and fisheries empowerment initiative.
