LONDON: Ahead of planned demonstrations in London this weekend, the Saudi Embassy in the UK on Friday urged Saudi citizens to exercise caution and avoid gatherings in the British capital.

The embassy said protests were expected to take place on Saturday in several parts of the city and advised Saudi nationals to follow the instructions of local authorities and avoid demonstration sites for their own safety.

The embassy also provided an emergency contact number, +44 779 951 9495, for Saudi citizens who require assistance.

The large demonstrations expected in London on Saturday include an event linked to Nakba Day, the annual commemoration of the mass displacement of Palestinians in 1948, and a far right “Unite the Kingdom” nationalist rally. The FA Cup final at Wembley between Manchester City and Chelsea is also taking place in the city on Saturday afternoon.
