RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar has held a virtual meeting with the Saudi science and engineering team participating in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona.
The meeting was part of efforts to support and encourage Saudi students representing the Kingdom at the world’s largest pre-university research and innovation forum, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The fair brings together more than 1,700 students in 22 scientific fields from about 70 countries, along with 1,200 judges evaluating the projects.
Princess Reema said the Saudi students were ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and stressed the importance of representing it with scientific excellence, strong conduct, and national values that reflected the Kingdom’s culture.
The Saudi team, comprising 40 students and two observers from gifted education programs, is participating across multiple scientific disciplines.
The students presented their research projects to sponsors and international media during the fair’s accompanying events. They also showcased their innovative work and discussed their research with specialists, stakeholders, and media representatives.
The Saudi team also took part in a pin, flag, and gift exchange event with students from other countries, reflecting the different cultures and fostering an interactive atmosphere of cultural exchange.
The students expressed pride in representing the Kingdom at the world’s largest pre-university science fair, and added that such events helped build international connections while enriching their scientific and cultural experience.
The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has participated in the fair annually since 2007 and earned 185 awards, 124 major and 61 special awards.
