THE HAGUE: Syria’s justice minister, Mazhar Al-Wais, held talks with his Dutch counterpart, David van Wiel, about the expansion of legal and judicial cooperation between their countries.

Their meeting, at the Ministry of Justice in The Hague on Sunday, took place after Al-Wais participated in the Justice Matters conference at the Peace Palace last week, at which ministers, legal experts, other officials, and representatives of international and human rights organizations had gathered to discuss issues related to justice and the rule of law.

During their meeting, Al-Wais and van Wiel discussed avenues for cooperation in the legal and judicial fields, and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest related to judicial coordination and institutional cooperation.

Al-Wais took part in the Justice Matters conference as part of its broader international discussions about justice, legal reform and institutional development.
