LONDON: The death toll resulting from Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, has risen to 72,737, according to the WAFA News Agency.

A total of 172,539 people have been injured in the conflict.

Palestinian medical sources reported on Sunday that one person was killed and four others injured in the past 24 hours due to the ongoing Israeli offensive. Many victims are still trapped under rubble as ambulance and civil defense teams have been unable to reach them, WAFA added.

Since a ceasefire was declared in October in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, at least 800 people have been killed — including over 200 children and seven humanitarian workers — by Israeli attacks.

Nearly all of Gaza’s 1.8 million residents are displaced and reliant on aid, according to the UN. Israel prohibits foreign journalists from entering the coastal enclave and enforces access constraints on aid supplies and humanitarian teams.

A US peace plan, which outlines the disarmament of Hamas, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the reconstruction of Gaza, has stalled since the start of the Iran conflict in February.

Several international organizations have accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for several Israeli leaders on charges of committing war crimes, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
