JEDDAH: Jeddah Mayor Saleh Al-Turki inaugurated the “Bride of the Red Sea” exhibition, part of a wider initiative aimed at showcasing the city’s beauty through the lenses of Saudi photographers, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The exhibition features 25 photographs documenting sculptures and landmarks across Jeddah, representing part of a total of 100 images selected for the first phase of the initiative.

The works on display present a distinctive artistic vision by five photographers, capturing details of the city’s urban landscape and visual identity.

Organizers said the exhibition marks the first in a series of showcases, to be followed by traveling and permanent displays at various locations in the coming months, SPA reported.

The initiative seeks to broaden public engagement and encourage greater interaction with the project.

The title, “Bride of the Red Sea,” reflects Jeddah’s historic identity and coastal beauty, highlighting its reputation as a vibrant and evolving city.

Coinciding with the launch, Jeddah Municipality unveiled a dedicated webpage for the exhibition featuring all participating images.

Each photograph is accompanied by detailed information, including the name of the sculpture, its artistic significance, the artist, year of creation and location, as well as the photographer’s name.

Displayed images also include a QR code enabling visitors to access additional information about the sculpture through the municipality’s website.

A second QR code links to the photographers’ Instagram pages, in support of their work and to enhance community partnership under the initiative.

Al-Turki honored members of the municipal team and participating photographers in recognition of their efforts in delivering the creative project, which reflects Jeddah’s stature and highlights its aesthetic character.
