MUNICH: Bayern Munich and Germany forward Serge Gnabry could miss this summer’s World Cup after tearing a muscle in his thigh, the Bundesliga club announced on Saturday.
Bayern published a statement saying Gnabry would be out for “an extended period” due to a “torn adductor muscle in his right thigh.”
The defending champions did not provide a time period but German media reported Gnabry had played his last match of the club season and could miss this summer’s World Cup.
The 30-year-old started both legs as Bayern beat Real Madrid to reach the semifinals, where they will face PSG and the club did not reveal when or how the injury occurred.
In 21 league games this season, the former Arsenal player has eight goals and seven assists.
Gnabry is a regular member of Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad and has played 59 times for his country, scoring 26 goals.
Also through to the semifinals of the German Cup, Bayern can win the Bundesliga as early as Sunday by avoiding defeat at home against Stuttgart.
