  • More than 150 international pavilions showcase business opportunities toward future sustainable airports

DUBAI: The 22nd edition of the Airport Show on Tuesday took off in Dubai showcasing innovations and business opportunities toward future sustainable airports.

The trade show, that runs until May 11 at the Dubai World Trade Center, is considered the world’s largest annual airport industry business-to-business platform, the Emirates News Agency reported.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, said: “The airport industry has come back almost to its full strength and picked up the lost growth momentum in most parts of the world.

“The construction of new airports and expansion and upgrading of existing facilities has gained pace to ensure airports meet the future demand as well as the needs and expectations of travelers.”

During a tour of the exhibitor pavilions, Al-Maktoum was briefed on the innovations and equipment displayed by more than 150 multinational enterprises from 20 countries.

Exhibitors from the US, Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Turkey, the Netherlands, China, Belgium, Korea, and Sweden are among those displaying the latest products and technologies designed to make the aviation industry safer and more sustainable, as well as to improve efficiency and passenger experience.

Omar bin Ghaleb, deputy director general of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said: “Efficient and sustainable air traffic management is the key to unlocking the potential of the aviation industry.

“The industry stakeholders should embrace innovation and collaborate to create exceptional passenger experiences and lead the way toward a brighter future for airports and the environment.”

Airport Security Middle East, the ATC Forum, the Global Airport Leaders’ Forum, and the Women in Aviation Conference are among the events being held at the show, where global experts and sector leaders will discuss industry trends, the future of travel, airport security, technology disruption, passenger experience, and sustainability.
