TOKYO: Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi on Monday spoke by telephone with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan about the deepening crisis in Sudan.
According to a Japanese foreign ministry spokesperson in Tokyo, during the call Hayashi had noted that he was monitoring the situation in Sudan with grave concern and that his country had called upon all parties involved to end the fighting immediately.
The minister also requested the UAE’s cooperation in ensuring the safety of Japanese citizens in Sudan.
Al-Nahyan, the Emirati minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, confirmed that the UAE was ready to help.
During their conversation, the two ministers agreed to continue working together in further promoting bilateral cooperation under the terms of a comprehensive strategic partnership initiative.
