RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s youth team have qualified for next year’s handball world championship in Croatia after defeating the UAE 37-27 on Wednesday night.

The win ensured progress to the semi-final of the 2022 Asian Handball Federation Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship taking place in Manama.

The competition at Bahrain Handball Federation Hall acts as a qualifying campaign for the 2023 International Handball Federation Men’s Youth (under-19) World Championship in Croatia, with the top five rubbing shoulders with the world’s best next year.

The Saudi team displayed their dominance over their Emirati opponents from the start and took a 20-13 lead into the break. The young Green Falcons maintained a healthy gap throughout the second half to eventual win by a 10-point margin and reach the last four.
