JEDDAH: Recorded daily cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Saudi Arabia have recently been on a steady decline, health officials have revealed.

On Friday, 681 new infections were reported taking to 537,374 the total number of cases logged in the Kingdom since the beginning of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, figures showed 1,447 new recoveries from the virus, upping the overall recovery rate to 520,358.
Ten COVID-19-related fatalities were recorded on Friday, moving the death toll in the country up to 8,388.
There were 8,628 active cases, a considerable decline on past months, 1,367 of which were in a critical condition, down by 20 patients in the last 24 hours.
Most new cases were recorded in Riyadh at 148, followed by 119 in Makkah, 92 in the Eastern Province, and just 11 in the Baha region.

More than 31 million vaccine jabs have been administered throughout the country, with at least 20 million people having received their first dose and 10.7 million getting two.

In a tweet, Saudi deputy minister for preventive health, Dr. Abdullah Asiri, said that more than 42 studies had suggested that COVID-19 vaccines were safe to use on pregnant women while also highlighting that the virus itself could be deadly for mother and unborn child.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs carried out 1,672 checks in mosques to ensure adherence to COVID-19 health and safety measures. Authorities recorded 86 breaches of rules including failure to wear masks and use personal prayer mats, and not maintaining safe distances.
