DUBAI: Kuwait has warned citizens not to violate curfew regulations amid the coronavirus outbreak, or face harsh punishments such as deportation for expatriates, according to a report by local daily Kuwait Times.

The country’s Interior Ministry issued the warning, asking people to seek special permits online to be able to leave their homes during the curfew.

Nasser Buslaib, the head of the ministry’s security media department, said citizens caught violating the curfew will be referred to proper authorities for investigation, while expats could face deportation.

Nearly 200 people have been arrested so far in violation of the curfew hours.
