JEDDAH: Three thousand trees have been planted during the Al-Ahsa Safari Festival in Joatha. The trees — some of which are intended to provide shade and some of which will bear fruit — were planted by teams from the Al-Ahsa forestation initiative.
The teams included 25 volunteers from the Saudi Irrigation Organization (SIO), a selection of engineers and agricultural technicians, and 30 media professionals from the Eastern Province.
The SIO aims to plant 2 million trees as part of an initiative launched by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, which aims to plant 10 million trees within four years to achieve the objectives of Vision 2030.
