JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia and the UAE have outlined a unified vision aimed at boosting the two nations’ global stature by announcing 44 joint projects.

The “Ala’azm (Determination) Strategy” was discussed by 350 officials from both countries involving 139 governmental, sovereign and military bodies over 12 months. The strategy focuses on three main pillars: economy; human and knowledge; and politics, security and military.

The strategic partnership seeks to move the two allies closer on economic and security grounds as well as developing a better living standard for citizens.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan chaired the first meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council in Jeddah on Thursday.

During the meeting, the structure of the coordination council was announced with the aim of boosting joint cooperation on the implementation of projects.

The leaders of the two countries have set 60 months (five years) to implement the strategy’s projects, which aim to build an integrated model between the two countries that supports joint GCC cooperation and contributes to protecting interests in addition to creating new opportunities.

The council seeks to develop a joint vision to deepen bilateral relations in line with the objectives set by the Gulf Cooperation Council to strengthen economic integration between the two sides and develop innovative solutions for optimum use of resources while building an efficient and integrated education system based on creating a qualified workforce.

Abu Dhabi’s crown prince said that the two countries have an opportunity to create an exceptional Arab model of cooperation.

He said that the solidarity and unity between Saudi Arabia and the UAE “protects our interests and strengthens our economies and builds a better future for our citizens.”

On the sidelines of the first meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council, 20 memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries to implement projects of the Strategy of Resolve.
