ISLAMABAD: The UAE’s ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi, and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday discussed ways to advance relations between the two countries, reported the Emirates News Agency.
Underlining the importance of Pakistan’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, Al-Zaabi said the UAE is among the largest investors in Pakistan, particularly in the areas of telecommunications, real estate, aviation, banking and energy.
Abbasi said: “The continued support provided by the UAE to accelerate Pakistan’s economic drive and social care efforts… reflects the UAE leadership’s determination to continue to grow the deeply rooted relations between the two countries.”
He highlighted the completion of the third phase of the UAE-Pakistan Assistance Program, entailing the completion of 50 development projects in various parts of Pakistan at a total cost of more than $200 million.
The large Pakistani community living in the UAE indicates the country’s culture of peaceful coexistence, said Abbasi, who thanked the UAE for its contributions to Pakistan’s economy.
