JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia boxer Dona Mohammed Al-Ghamdi has continued her remarkable rise in the sport by winning the 2018 International Boxing Championship.
Al-Ghamdi only took up the sport four years ago to lose weight — she dropped from 155 kilograms to 80 kilograms in nine months — but she has also managed to win several titles in the process.
On Friday she won the International Boxing Championship in Balqa, Jordan, to add to the three black belt, four medals and several Arab titles she has already claimed.
Al-Ghamdi is the only Saudi Arabian boxer to compete on an Arab and international level and was competing against fighters from Norway, Germany, Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, UAE, Lebanon and Kuwait.
