ABHA: Jarash, near Abha, is among the most important archaeological sites in Asir province, and will be partially open to visitors soon, said Mohammed Al-Umrah, director general of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) branch in Asir.
“Fieldwork has started and the excavation team made many discoveries there,” said the director of antiquities and museums in Asir, Saeed bin Ali Al-Qarni.
“The excavation team discovered relics that date back to BC and the Islamic era. This archaeological site is one of the most important in the history of the Arabian Peninsula.”
