The boys’ section of the International Indian School in Jeddah recently celebrated with great fervor the much-anticipated “Youth Festival” (Juventud Fiesta).
The day witnessed active participation from the student body, with the young IISJians presenting a spectacular display of performances that comprised an array of activities including a quiz contest and various artistic performances. The boys showcased their latent talents in the fields of art, culture, and entertainment.
The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the holy Qur’an. It was then followed by the welcome address and a series of events. The dance skit on patriotism shed light on the events that led to the martyrdom of the national heroes, Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi and infused a feeling of patriotism into the hearts of all the attendees.
The various Indian dance sketches depicted the rich cultural heritage of India. The students presented many small plays, including a skit on child labor, which brought to the forefront the need to eradicate this social menace still prevalent in many parts of the World.
Another skit titled “Save Animals” raised awareness on the ardent need to protect our wild life, while the drama “Respect toward Parents” reminded the children to honor and appreciate the love they receive from their parents. Students like Arfad Haneeef, Sriram Sateesh, Joel and Naif Muizz enthralled the audience with their musical numbers, whereas students like Abdul Ahad, Saifuddin, Goutham, and Ajwad captivated the hearts of the audience with their melodious and mystic voices.
The perfect fusion of dance with karate added more color and thrill to the already jubilant audience, as some tapped their feet to the performances.
The school also remembered and acknowledged the contribution made by Bollywood heroes who have bid farewell to the world but have left a rich legacy behind them.
The most anticipated and intriguing event of the day was the screening of the film titled “Good Friend: A Hug From God”, directed and edited by Mohammed Azhar.
The film not only conveyed the message that a true friend is the most precious and treasured gift from God, but also featured the performances of some of the staff members and the students of class 12.
Naved Noushad wrote the storyline, while Zaki Mukane created the screenplay. The cast included Vazim Latheef, Rizwan Abdul Razzack, Noufal P., Maria Das, Mohammed Haneefa, Syed Abdul Haq, Abid Hassan, Hari Krishnan and Raihunuzzaman.
Principal Syed Masood Ahmed, in his address, commended the efforts of the students and the staff and congratulated them on delivering another milestone in the history of IISJ. He said, “Events, such as these, provide a platform for unleashing the hidden talents of the youth.”
