The services provided by the Jubail Industrial College (JIC) came under the spotlight at a recent event.
Jubail Industrial City hosted the third workshop for representatives of various industries. It took place at JIC’s multipurpose hall.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss common issues in the industries, including training, labor market needs and human resources.
Ali Asiri, general manager of Colleges and Institutes at the Royal Commission, Adel Salem Bahakeem, managing director of Jubail Industrial College, and more than 100 representatives of various industries from all around the Kingdom took part in the event.
Ali Asiri said that the the workshop aims to develop special fields that would meet the needs of the industrial sector.
Asiri said that committees of colleges, institutes and the industrial sector have been set up to present a questionnaire to study current and future needs. As a result, the curriculum at the colleges and institutes sector at the Royal Commission is expected serve the needs of the industrial labor market.
Adel Bahakeem said that the meeting is an opportunity to raise awareness among the representatives on the college’s latest achievements and its future programs.
It also helps to assess their needs and provide suitable responses.
Bahakeem said: “The college has worked in recent years to develop programs in engineering technology to comply with international standards.”
He said that the associate degree offered by the College of Engineering Technology was subject to intensified review by ABET Organization representatives who worked with international organizations and associations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Society of Automation (ISA), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Bahakeem emphasized the success of the Industrial Consultants Committee as well as the graduates. He highlighted the strength of the partnership between the Jubail Industrial College and industries.
This workshop also aims at gathering all specialists in this sector and discussing common issues of education, training and manpower development.
There are also exchanges of dialogue on addressing key issues facing industry, discuss how to assist in addressing these issues, and to strengthen the college’s academic programs.
In addition to that, the event aims at highlighting the college’s achievements and the latest developments.
