Alungal Muhammed, CMD of Al-Abeer Medical Group, has won an international award for his contributions to the health care sector of Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries as well as India, an official statement said.
The award was announced by the joint council of the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department for National Unity, International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and OIC Today magazine.
Muhammed will receive the award during an international seminar on interfaith harmony and tolerance organized by the Kuala Lumpur-based university on Feb. 26.
“We have selected you for this award in appreciation of your contributions to health care excellence,” said Dr. Bachir Soualhi, Director of International Promotion and Scholarships at IIUM.
Since 1999, Al-Abeer Group’s hospitals and polyclinics have provided medical care to millions of patients in the Gulf at affordable rate, making use advanced technology. It also employs more than 5,000 people.
Muhammed has launched an Educity project in the Malappuram district of Kerala as part of the group’s social responsibility.
The project, which is estimated to cost Rs 8 billion, will have schools offering courses in medicine, engineering, business administration, commerce and humanities with 65 percent of the seats reserved for the NRI’s children.
