The Pakistan International School Jeddah (PISJ) Aziziyah branch held its annual prize distribution for grades 5 to 8 for the current school year amid excitement and jubilation at its premises on Monday.
Waseem Skinder Hayat, the consort of the link officer at the Pakistani consulate, was the chief guest and honored deserving students with prizes for scoring first, second and third positions in their academic year.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an presented by Tehreem Abdullah of class 10E followed by the translation by Maha Khan of class 9G.
The program was conducted by Muneera Masood, deputy controller of examination, and hosted by Afshan Farooq.
While presenting the school’s annual report, Vice Principal Salma Shah Khan said the school continued to uphold its reputation as the mother of all schools.
This year, 1,375 students from grade 5 to 8 sat for the annual examination, of which 1,313 students or 95.49 percent passed. Grade 8 had the highest pass percentage of 98 percent.
“Keeping alive its commitment, heritage and its responsibility as an active member of the community in Jeddah, the school maintains a well-defined co-curricular program with Qur’an recitation competitions, dramas, spelling bees, writing competitions, debates in Urdu and English, science quizzes, fine arts, and home economic exhibitions,” said Khan.
The student who secured the highest percentage, 93.33 percent, was Sundus Majid of grade 6D. The overall position holders from grade 8 were Alveena Seher and Wajiha Tariq first, Sliha Umar second, Fatema Naheed third; from grade 7 Maham Ahmed, Anum Rafiq, and a joint third place for Amna Ahmed and Mishal Arif; from grade 6 Sundus Majid, Humama Mehroz, and Ruqayyah Neaz; from grade 5 Warda Iftikhar, Zainab Jafri, and Mahnoor Jafri.
The entire program of the day was prepared by a committee of teachers comprising Ameena Farooq, Naureen Farooq, Tabassum Sheikh, Maimuoona Anjum and Raeesa Kafeel.
Bushra Asif, the controller of examination, thanked all committee members for their hard work, which had made the program a success.
