Just married? Here’s where you should head to!

Just married? Here’s where you should head to!

A honeymoon is like a prize you get after a stressful wedding season. It should be romantic and enjoyable for both the new spouses. Here are 15 great ideas for romantic breaks around the world:

Kauai, Hawaii:
The Hawaiian island of Kauai offers private villas on secluded beaches, which make for wonderfully restive honeymoons. Couples with an adventuresome bent can hike through the Na Pali Coast or kayak down the Wailua River, among other activities.

Paris, France:
For many, it’s the ultimate honeymoon destination, and why not? There’s fine French dining, elegant shopping boulevards, a renowned museum (Musee d’Orsay Louvre), swoon-worthy sights (Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur), entertainment at places like the Opera Garnier and ulta-chic accommodations. However, you might have to shell out a pretty penny to experience Paris in the lap of luxury, with five-star hotels that go up to $1,000 a night. But it’s your honeymoon and you will hopefully only do it once, right?

Florence, Italy:
Set along the bank of the Areno River and nestled in the Tuscan hills, Florence is an intimate city famous for renowned Renaissance art, architecture and local Italian cooking. Since it’s a small city, the best form of transportation is walking — preferably hand-in-hand with your soulmate through the labyrinth of stone streets, the Boboli Gardens and attractions such as the Duomo, the Uffizi, which are all magnificent, but there aren’t so many that you feel stressed or rushed to see it all. Florence offers some sumptuous hotels, so you might want to take advantage of the plush rooms and sleep in.

Maui, Hawaii:
Because some couples enjoy adventure — or at least sort of — Maui is an ideal honeymoon destination. With jungles to explore, volcanoes to tour, the Wai’anapanapa State Park to hike, Maui bursts with adventures to experience. But if you want to catch up on your rest and relaxation, there are also gorgeous beaches to laze upon, cute towns to explore and luxurious spa resorts to enjoy.

Niagara Falls, Canada:
It is a camp honeymoon destination, and you’re certain to have a blast. Accommodations range from retro to high-end sorts and the views of the falls whether from high above in a helicopter or at the bottom on a Maid of the Mist boat are said to be transcendent, especially when you have your new spouse on your side.

Jamaica:
All-inclusive resorts reign here, meaning honeymooners after their brilliant but exhausting weddings can fully relax without worrying about what to do, where to eat or the weather for it’s always warm and sunny. However, if couples do want to get out and explore, Jamaica offers a host of things to do from reggae restaurants in Kingston to the tropical flora and fauna of Ocho Rios.

Venice, Italy:
The city of canals, gondolas, waterside hotels and Italian cooking, Venice has been a long standing honeymoon destination. Because Venice plays on its status as a romantic destination, prices for nice hotels, fine dinning and gondola rides can be pretty high. And apart from traipsing the confusing wed of streets, gorging on pasta and maybe doing a bit of shopping, there’s not much else to do, but we think that might be to its benefit.

Edinburgh, Scotland:
Set amid the rolling Scottish hills, complete with castles, up-and-coming restaurants, luxurious accommodations and a vibrant theater scene, Edinburgh makes for an interesting yet laid-back honeymoon. If you feel like sightseeing, Edinburgh offers neighborhoods to explore, nearby hills to hike, shopping streets to peruse and attractions like Edinburgh Castle and the Holyroodhouse Palace to see, but you can also lounge in the Royal Botanic Garden, enjoy a spa treatment or simply sleep in and feel not guilty about it.

Santorini, Greece:
It is known for its breathtaking sunsets, calm waters of the Aegean Sea, rich Greek food of fish, honey, olives and of course feta cheese, as well as specific couple accommodations overlooking the Aegean Sea. Santorini is almost tailor-made for those who’ve just said, I do. The streets, which wind past white-washed buildings and blue domed houses, are lined with boutique shops and restaurants. Otherwise, honeymooners can enjoy lazy afternoons on beaches.

Puerto Rico:
The large island offers both quite, secluded beaches like the ones found on Vieques and lively ones like Rincon. Resorts, restaurants and couple-friendly activities, such as hiking and scuba diving, abound.

Crete, Greek:
The large Greek isle of Crete is broken into four distinct regions that offer very different experiences, from jungle adventures to beach lazing. The beaches are lovely, as are the hotels, spas and Greek cuisine.

Madrid, Spain:
Spain’s capital is a big and bustling city where people literally stay up all night, but it is also filled with the Spanish sensibility — the afternoon siesta, delicious tapas, flamenco and all-night activities. There are also must-see museums like the Pardo and excellent parks for catnaps, though in Madrid, there is no shortage of comfortable places to lay your head at beautiful and luxurious hotels.

Bora Bora, Islands of French Polynesia:
Bora Bora’s legendary scenery is just a trip of the iceberg or rather the volcano. Newlyweds have their pick of several luxurious resorts, many with over the water bungalows. At only six miles long and 2.5 miles wide, this place has limited real estate, which creates a high demand and equally high hotel rates. But can you really put a price on the perfect honeymoon?

Turks and Caicos, British Overseas Territory:
Catering to an upscale clientele Turks and Caicos are perhaps one of the least developed Caribbean destinations and make for an intimate and somewhat secluded honeymoon experience. Besides the beaches, the main attractions in Turks and Caicos are snorkeling, scuba diving and spa treatments, all of which can be enjoyed by newly-married couples. These islands are also known for their spectacular dining scene.

Martinique:
Experts say it has all the class of Paris, but Martinique also has a beautiful set of beaches and enjoyable weather all year long. Because the island is a mixture of French and Creole cultures, the island’s chefs have melded the two to create French-Creole fusion fare, which travel writers say is to die for. There’s also a pretty decent nightlife and accommodations range from charming inns to luxurious resorts.
