JEDDAH: Picking up from where it left off, last conference champion team Puefoods Hotdog now carrying the banner of Sadafco-Saudia Milk earned its first Team of the Week award on the second week and grabbed the lead the following session from ICBL Mix Insert in the FTBJ-ICBL 35th Conference bowling tournament at Ice Land Bowling Center here.
In an early show of force, Igna Salgado’s Sadafco squad flirted with the perfect score of 48 points on the second week as it rebounded strongly from a poor showing of 16 points in the opening week of the five-man team Friday afternoon league event.
ICBL Mix Insert was the Team of the Week during the first session on 45 points but back-to-back weeks of consistent play by Sadafco had Mix Insert tumbling down from the top of the leaderboard.
Third week honors went to Par Excellence on 44 points with Sadafco the next best team on 39. Hal Falcon and Steelers tied on 37 followed by D’ Barkads 28.5, Ceebee Aviation 25 and Sky Freight-OSN.
ICBL Mix Insert and Hidada Ltd. had matching cards of 21 points with Rock N Roll on 16.5 points. Sagmit Dental Clinic and Al Murjana brought up the rear on 15 and 4 points.
Claiming the individual awards for the third week were Rey Beltran of Hal Falcon, men’s Bowler of the Week on 636, and Michelle Mata (Steelers) and Nurissa Ramos (Par Excellence), ladies Bowlers of the Week on 598. The second week awardees were Murjana’s May Lourdes Tumbagahon (ladies) 556 and Rey Conde of Ceebee Aviation (men’s) 675.
Yasser Hokbi and Emil Payongayong along with Ramos struck hardest for Par Excellence, which collared its first Team of the Week award on the strength of first-place finishes in the second game and overall output.
Hokbi rolled 603 and Payongayong shot 600. Elsie Fernandez, the other player on the distaff side, contributed 567, while Archie Santos added 183-173 and Edu Toledo 204.
Jimmy Urbano was at the helm of the Sadafco charge on 623 with the ladies pair of Malou Nidoy and Marissa Resano on 571 and 561. Majed Aslani was the other player to go the distance on 546, Salgado tossed in 214-221 and Joel Nidoy added 199.
Besides Beltran the others who helped the Hal cause were Lourdes Punzalan 597, Mhon Laxamana 580, Alma Bacero 488, Zaldy Bacero 198-214 and Rene Ocampo 181.
Randy Mata was the only male bowler to complete three games at Steelers with his daughter Michelle leading the way with that 598. Grace Funtilon compiled 566 to go with the 235-157 by Ric Antonio, 170-195 by Nezar Mohd and 204-197 by Tito Cruz.
