Saudi Colors draws 500 photographers

More than 500 photographers in the Kingdom submitted 3,380 photographs in the Saudi Colors Fourm that concluded in Riyadh on Thursday.
The event was organized by Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA).
“Thanks to Sultan … Adieu to the Saudi Colors,” the participants shouted while they posed for a group photo at the main hall of the exhibition shortly before its conclusion, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
They also hoped that the SCTA would organize the event regularly in the coming years.
The prince inaugurated the Saudi Colors Forum at the Riyadh International Center for Exhibitions and Conferences and accompanying exhibition last Monday.
Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja also attended the inaugural function.
The Ministry of Culture and Information and the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts collaborated with the SCTA to organize the event.
More than 500 photographers in the Kingdom submitted 3,380 photographs focused on four themes: nature, urban heritage, Saudi faces and national development for a competition at the Saudi Color Forum.
The newly instituted Prince Sultan Award went to Saudi pioneers photographers, Eisa Al-Angawi, Khaled Al-Khudr, Saud Mahjoub and Ali Al-Mubarak.
The value of the prizes amounted to SR 420,000. The jury chose 10 submissions from each section. The prize also included a SR 100,000 Prince Sultan bin Salman Prize for the best photo of individuals and establishments in the category of national tourism.
Many diplomats attended the Saudi Colors Forum, describing it as a window to the Kingdom’s topographical variety.
The diplomats, who visited the forum’s exhibition, considered it a perfect reflection of tourism in the Kingdom and the richness of its heritage, hoping for the expansion of the exhibition to move from the local to the international character, and become a meeting event for overseas photographers as well.
