RIYADH: The United Arab Emirates has banned a Saudi woman from entering its territory for using the issue of driving to criticize the Kingdom, according to a report in a local publication on Friday.
Lujain Hathloul commented on the ban on her Twitter account saying that she was confused about the United Arab Emirates decision because the Saudi government has already lifted a travel ban placed on her after her protest action late last year.
There was heated discussion on social media websites after the decision became public, with many offering their opinions on the matter, according to the report.
The report said that Hathloul “created havoc” in Saudi Arabia late last year after she tried to break the country’s laws by driving a car from the United Arab Emirates through the Batha crossing point into the Kingdom. The police had arrested her and a friend Maisa Al-Amoudi, with both later set free.
