RIYADH: The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works (KCRHW) dispatched this week 100,000 food packages in humanitarian aid to Yemenis in Taiz who have been facing a Houthi-imposed blockade for the last eight months.
The relief measure was announced during a recent meeting of the KCRHW coalition and officials where the organization presented field reports based on the actual needs and suffering of the province from the blockade by the militias, which has prevented relief supplies from reaching the city.
According to the KCRHW report, the Houthis targeted civilian installations, residential areas and medical facilities as part of its blockade.
The head of the Supreme Committee for Relief, Minister Abduraqeeb, in his report specified the needs of the Yemeni provinces, particularly the city of Taiz. He also underlined the role of the Islamic Relief Organization, which has played a prominent role in the coordination of these efforts in Taiz and other governorates of Yemen at the global level.
Earlier, 140,000 food baskets were distributed during Ramadan and Shawwal last year. KCRHW carried out 13 programs in Yemen, with the participation of more than 13 international and regional organizations.
The program has already provided 510,000 food baskets and 935 tons of different food items. It has also been providing more than 250,000 hot and dry meals for over 5 million beneficiaries in addition to 832 tons of medicines as part of medical supplies.
The center also provided relief supplies to a number of hospitals and health centers in Yemen, which benefited more than 10 million people in the various governorates of Yemen.
