IIROSA holds 10th annual meeting in Jeddah

JEDDAH: The general assembly of the International Islamic Relief Organization, Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) held its tenth annual meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Jeddah on Monday under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and President of the Assembly, Abdullah Mohsin Al-Turki.
More than 103 members from Saudi Arabia and abroad attended the meeting. Majority of them were ministers, scientists, Islamic scholars, businessmen and influential personalities who came to discuss a number of issues and subjects related to humanitarian work. The meeting was also attended by Abdullah Omar Naseef, former vice chairman of the Shoura and Abdullah Al- Obaid, former secretary general of Muslim World League.
Al-Turki welcomed the participants and wished them a happy stay in the Kingdom.
During the meeting, the general assembly discussed several important issues including constructive ideas to cope with the requirements in the humanitarian domain.
Among these issues, the selection of an external auditor for the accounts, projects and various programs of the organization for the fiscal year 2013-2014 in addition to nominating new members to IIROSA’s general assembly were discussed.
Al-Turki praised the generous support being extended to IIROSA by the Saudi government under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and said that this support has enabled the organization to be distinguished in its humanitarian and relief efforts. He asserted that IIROSA couldn’t have achieved its mission without the cooperation of its members.
He said that “Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of nations in providing assistance in respect to humanitarian issues and this work accomplished by the Kingdom reflects its great position in the humanitarian sector.”
Ehsaan Saleh Taieb, secretary-general of IIROSA, in his welcome speech appreciated the members for attending the general assembly and urged them to enhance the relief and charity work that go in line with new technology, modern era and the most recent developments in the charitable and humanitarian field.
He concluded that IIROSA have signed several agreements in the last year for the benefit of the poor and the needy as well as IIROSA is increasing its efforts to help Syrian and Yemeni refugees by providing them with humanitarian aid.
Syed Shah Khusro Hussaini, a general assembly member from India, said: “It is a pleasure to be among the members of IIROSA’s general assembly. I was very happy to see the transparency in relief activities of the organization and I hope that IIROSA will reach India with its humanitarian relief very soon. Since the people of India are anxiously waiting for IIROSA’s relief assistance to reach the needy and the poor.”
