RIYADH: The National Committee for Combating Drugs (Nebras) has come up with a program that organizes a lecture entitled “You are responsible ” to raise awareness on the detrimental effects of drug abuse.
Hanah Al-Fraih, project director, said the program includes an integrated chain of family drug prevention measures.
She said that it is designed to raise awareness with information derived from medical and behavioral researches on the bad effects of drug abuse.
The program will take place over nine months which will include numerous events and training and educational activities about drug harm, prevention methods and impact on health behavior and professional performance.
“It will also include family and community security and address misconceptions about drugs and alcohol in general and eliminate misinformation about drug use,” she said.
Moreover, the program will work on building the convictions and attitudes needed to refuse psychotropic substance abuse as well as to clarify the reasons that may lead to drug abuse.
“The program will also identify the attributes of a drug addict and contribute to early detection so that it could be treated as soon as possible,” she added.
She noted that the program is based on the agreement between Nebras and the General Department for Women’s Social Supervision.
One of the highlights of the program is providing informational lectures, workshops, and training in accordance with a training package prepared earlier.
Moreover, it also aims to provide accurate and reliable information among community members and methods and routes used by the drug traffickers in promoting their nefarious activities.
Furthermore, the program also aims to reveal the drug traffickers’ methods and address “this serious scourge and keep society safe.”
