JEDDAH: The national committee for global and international education at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) has urged international schools to make new investments with a view to improving the quality of education.
The committee, which held a meeting at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), recommended the establishment of an independent committee for international schools at the chamber.
The meeting was told that the proposed JCCI committee would help monitor Jeddah’s 190 international schools, more specifically their investment and curriculum.
Participating in the meeting were Mansour bin Saleh Alkhnezan, chairman of the national committee at CSC, JCCI Vice Chairman Mazen Batterjee, JCCI board member Khalaf Al-Otaibi and Assistant Secretary General Muhiuddin bin Yahya.
The meeting discussed the problems, obstacles and challenges faced by the owners of international schools, especially in terms of meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Education, and the limited number of seats for Saudi children at international schools.
The committee observed that the schools could improve the standard of education by continuously reviewing their curriculums.
The private sector in education needs to continuously develop and owners of international schools could reap maximum benefits by establishing meaningful communication with officials of the national committee at CSC.
