RIYADH: The Philippine government is thankful to the Kingdom for its support and cooperation to overseas Filipino workers, said Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago on the occasion of the country’s 117th Independence Day celebrations here on Friday.
During a call earlier on Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar, he expressed his thanks on behalf of the Philippine government for the assistance extended to Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.
The Filipino envoy was accompanied by Philippine Embassy Second Secretary and Consul Winston Dean Almeda Tago said that the office of the governor through the Committee of Reconciliation has extended assistance in the cases of Filipinos in Riyadh Region.
He also appreciated the recent instructions by the governor’s office to form an inter-agency committee to address the issues related to female household service workers who include housemaids, nannies, family drivers, cooks and farm assistants.
To mark the Independence Day of the Philippines, Tago hosted a reception for Filipino community leaders and other guests on the embassy premises inside the Diplomatic Quarter (DQ). Leaders from various Filipino groups like Order of the Knights of Riyadh—Riyadh Chapter (OKOR-Riyadh Chapter), Philippine Professionals Group (PPO), Pinoy Sining, and others attended the event.
