New unit at Amal Hospital

Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Riyadh recently added a 25-bed unit to keep up with the growing number of patients and drug addicts, while increasing its qualified cadres to accommodate the situation, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qahtani, the Executive Director of Al-Amal Complex, told local media.
On the other hand, Dr. Fahd Al-Mansour, a psychiatrist and drug addict expert at the complex, explained that the new expansion will be carried out at the men’s section, after transferring the women’s sections to a new location within the center.
Al-Mansour also added that therapeutic programs will be updated in cooperation with specialists from the United States.
Addiction treatment in the Kingdom does not require hospitalization, since there are a number of programs that contribute to the recovery without the need to stay at the hospital, including outpatient clinics, emergency interventions, and follow-up.
Al-Mansour pointed out that the biggest problem facing the implementation of addiction treatment stems from the patients’ resentment and their failure to accept the treatment which, according to the expert, weakens the effectiveness of these programs.
