Saudi Arabia’s cultural attaché to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) inaugurated the art exhibition at the “EVA” Women Group Art Exhibition at the Art plus gallery in UAE on the occasion of the International Women’s Day held on Monday.
The seven-day-long art exhibit showcases 38 paintings of female artists of different nationalities. Among the many paintings showcased were the work of Saudi artists Wayam Matbouli, Khulafa Shammari and Maha Al Kalabi.
Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, Saudi cultural attaché in the UAE, termed the exhibition as “a demonstration of art and culture bridging the gap between Arab and Gulf artists,” adding that the event provides a platform for painters to express themselves.
According to Dr. Al-Suhaibani, the exhibit encourages upcoming and innovative artists to bring their work to the public and share their feelings with the world by using art to express themselves.
The envoy further stated that the Saudi Embassy strongly encourages such cultural events with the aim to support the artists of the country. The Saudi Embassy’s role in the UAE and other countries is to showcase the Kingdom’s heritage, culture and traditions, which is also displayed through art.
Such exhibitions also help to strengthen relationships between the nations. “UAE provides an opportunity for Saudi women to demonstrate their successful experience, their national culture, their patriotism toward their nation and their role in supporting the intellectual dialogue,” Al-Suhaibani said.
Professor Nada Al-Hashemi, the exhibition’s curator, stressed her appreciation toward the Saudi cultural attaché for his support.
Saudi Arabia participated in this exhibition to highlight the innovative art work of Saudi artists and the cultural movement that is linking Saudi Arabia and the world.
