The Saudi Commission of Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) discussed plan to offer handmade gifts to the Kingdom’s guests.
The SCTA under the presidency of Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz took the decision in Riyadh recently.
More than 3,164 handmade souvenirs have been secured to be given to guests of the SCTA at a value exceeding SR598,000.
The SCTA appreciated the tourism activities that were held during the midterm holiday, amounting to 29 festivals that attracted more than 2 million visitors, according to statistics from the Department of Tourist Statistics and Information (MAS).
The council reviewed several issues listed on its schedule, such as controlling financing for hotels and tourist projects. It also considered the content of the Council of Ministers’ Resolution to approve the hotel and tourist funding program, which stipulates that the Ministry of Finance should approve hotel and tourist projects according to its regulations.
The SCTA considered the decision to be an important launch for the mission of developing the national tourism sector, and encouraging better quality investments, in addition to enhancing investors’ abilities to rise with the level of tourist services and increasing what is on offer.
During the meeting, Prince Sultan reviewed the activation plan of offering handmade gifts for its guests. These gifts should be from government bodies and are generally offered during its various celebrations.
The council confirmed the importance of the state’s latest decisions within the framework of its continued support to tourism and national heritage. The council commended the sponsorship and establishment of the Saudi Company for Heritage Hospitality, which is within the government’s efforts to invest in and develop the national heritage and tourist investments in participation with the state.
The council congratulated Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, and Prince of Makkah, on the occasion of receiving a lifelong award in the field of urban heritage which was announced by the president of STCA.
At the end of the meeting the council approved the commission’s annual report for 2014, before filing it to the King.
