Large crowds in Bisha attended the funeral of the first child of Moussa Ibrahim Abu Racine, who died two days ago in what appears to be the result of a medical error during the child’s birth at Bisha Hospital, according to the father.
The baby’s father filed a complaint against Bisha General Hospital, claiming that the medical staff committed a medical error that led to the suffocation of his daughter due to lack of oxygen. Moussa Abu Racine said the suffering began when his wife was brought to the emergency room for delivery.
He said the physician told them after the examination that the pulse of the fetus was weak and it was suffocating due to the leakage of liquid from the mother, thus requiring an urgent caesarean section, which both parents accepted.
Abu Racine said the absence of nurses in the operation room resulted in the deterioration of the fetus state as the Caesarean section was delayed. The man said the delay of the attendance of the gynecologist on call led his wife to suffer the pain of childbirth for more than four hours until the baby was born naturally in the presence of a nurse, not a doctor.
As a consequence of the delay in the birth and the lack of oxygen, the child was born with many problems. The case was referred to King Fahd Central Hospital, where they were moved to Abu Arish General Hospital due to the lack of beds.
