Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khaled, who is also chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Abha Festival, attended a spectacular fireworks display held at Abha Dam Lagoon premises as part of the festival on Monday evening.
The function started with a national operetta featuring several artists.
Water jet sports and a light and sound show were also held.
A show of Chinese martial artists was another major attraction at the function.
They enthralled the spectators with their acrobatic and Kung-Fu feats.
Saleh Qadah, director general of Siyahiya company, said the Tourism Promotion Council in Asir Province headed by Prince Faisal is meeting the cost of the fireworks show, held daily throughout the festival.
As part of this year’s summer festival, a platform was erected near the lagoon, in addition to introducing 13 new games at the fun city in the new Abha gardens.
More than 1,500 visitors and picnickers are using cable cars from the Abha mountaintop on a daily basis, he said.
The southern summer tourist resort city is attracting thousands of families from within the Kingdom and other GCC states during the current summer vacation.
