KARACHI: Karachi movie fans have applauded Bollywood for bridging gap between India and Pakistan through a number of initiatives, including the making of “Welcome 2 Karachi” film, which is excepted to release next year, Dawn reported.
Actors Jackky Bhagnani and Arshad Warsi have teamed up for Ashish R. Mohan’s comedy flick based on Pakistan’s commercial hub.
Actor Irrfan Khan was previously supposed to be one of the main leads in the film, but he decided to back out at the last moment owing to some creative differences.
According to the Indian Express, Jackky Bhagnani who was last seen in “Youngistaan,” has replaced Irrfan.
“Welcome 2 Karachi” is about two adventurers who get stuck in Karachi amid the political turmoil in the city.
When asked why he chose Karachi, director Rohit Shetty told Filmfare, “Karachi when compared to any other place is considered to be the most dangerous city, but it’s the people who make the perception. Good human beings are everywhere and that’s what I would like to show through my film.”
Talking about his character, Warsi spoke to Times of India, “My character is a little accident-prone as things keep happening to him all the time.”
