Health Ministry readies 177 ambulances to serve pilgrims

JEDDAH: The Health Ministry’s medical supply committee has completed its preparations for the pilgrimage season.
The committee is the ministry’s branch working at the holy sites and its tasks include determining the amount of medicine, medical and laboratory supplies required for Haj.
The committee monitors and follows up on the distribution of foods supplies and other needs to health centers and hospitals, and supervises the readiness of facilities at the holy places. The ministry has executed several new health and development projects at the holy sites this year to provide medical services to the pilgrims.
The committee also supervises the medical and non-medical maintenance work at hospitals at the holy sites to ensure their readiness to receive pilgrims, proof of the ministry’s keenness to ensure that all health services (preventive, curative and awareness) are in place for the pilgrims, through monitoring the work flow and carrying out development projects for hospitals and health centers during the pilgrimage season.
In a related issue, Saad Al-Qurashi, chairman of the Haj and Umrah Committee at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the 204 companies and institutions working with pilgrims are currently working on erecting and equipping about 18,000 tents on Mount Arafat to accommodate nearly 130,000 pilgrims.
Al-Qurashi pointed out that around 2,000 workers are working on equipping Mount Arafat camps; their mission is to put up decorations, furniture and tents.
